TryCatchJob for Claude and other AI assistants

Connector guide · Wersja polska

TryCatchJob keeps track of the jobs you saved and the applications you sent: their status, notes, next steps and history. The TryCatchJob connector lets an AI assistant such as Claude read that list and, if you allow it, keep it up to date for you. It is a remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at:

https://trycatchjob.com/mcp

Before you start

Connect

Claude (web and desktop)

  1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it TryCatchJob and enter the address https://trycatchjob.com/mcp.
  3. Choose Connect. Claude opens TryCatchJob, where you sign in.
  4. TryCatchJob shows who is asking and where you will be sent back. Leave it at reading only, or tick Allow it to add and change jobs, then choose Allow.
  5. Back in Claude, turn the connector on in a conversation and ask your first question. Once added, it is also there in Claude's mobile apps.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user trycatchjob https://trycatchjob.com/mcp

Start a new session, type /mcp, choose trycatchjob and then Authenticate. Your browser opens the same TryCatchJob page as above.

Other MCP clients

Use the address above with the Streamable HTTP transport. The server supports OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration, so a client that follows the MCP authorization specification needs no further setup.

What the assistant may do

You choose one of two levels when you connect, and nothing is granted without your choice on TryCatchJob's own page:

LevelWhat it allows
Read only (default)Read your jobs, notes, tags, next steps and history.
Add and changeAlso add jobs, change their details and status, add notes and tags.

At neither level can the assistant delete a job, replace or erase your notes, remove a tag, export your data, or see or change your account, password, settings or other connections. In a conversation Claude asks you to confirm each change before it is made; a scheduled task runs on its own.

Example prompts

These work with a read-only connection:

These need a connection that may add and change:

Updates from your inbox, every morning

Claude Code's scheduled tasks run a saved prompt in the cloud on a schedule, also while your computer is off. With your mail and TryCatchJob connected, such a task can go through new e-mails from recruiters every morning and update your applications: statuses, next steps and notes.

  1. Add TryCatchJob in Claude under Settings → Connectors, as above, and tick Allow it to add and change jobs. A server added only with claude mcp add stays on your computer, and scheduled tasks cannot use it.
  2. Connect your mail there as well, for example the Gmail connector.
  3. In Claude Code, describe the task to /schedule, or create it at claude.ai/code/routines:
/schedule every day at 8am: go through new e-mails from recruiters in Gmail and update TryCatchJob – statuses, next steps and notes. Never reply to anyone.
  4. Leave only the connectors the task needs. Each run opens as a session in the task's history, where you can read what it did.

A scheduled task works without you, so it does not stop to ask before a change. TryCatchJob still gives it no way to delete a job or to replace your notes, and every status change and note stays in the application's history. E-mails come from outside, and one could try to steer the assistant: read a run now and then, and disconnect it in TryCatchJob if something looks wrong. Scheduled tasks are a Claude feature, on Claude's Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans.

Disconnect

In TryCatchJob open Account → AI assistant. Every connected assistant is listed there with what it may do and when it was last used; Disconnect ends its access at once. Removing the connector in Claude alone does not tell TryCatchJob, so disconnect it in TryCatchJob as well. A connection that is not used for 60 days ends by itself, and every connection has to be approved again after 180 days.

Troubleshooting

What you seeWhat to do
Claude says it cannot add or change anythingThe connection is read only. Disconnect it under Account → AI assistant, connect again and tick Allow it to add and change jobs.
"Needs authentication", or the connector asks you to connect againThe connection ended (disconnected in TryCatchJob, unused for 60 days, or older than 180 days). Choose Connect again; in Claude Code use /mcp → trycatchjob → Authenticate.
"The user has to accept the updated terms of service"Open TryCatchJob in your browser, accept the new terms and ask again.
TryCatchJob shows "This request cannot be used" instead of the Allow buttonThe link is incomplete or was changed on the way. Close the tab and start connecting again from the assistant.
TryCatchJob warns that the request comes from a program on your computerExpected for Claude Code and other desktop or command-line apps. Allow it only if you started connecting one a moment ago.
You cannot sign in or create an accountDuring the closed beta an account needs an invitation. Ask for one through the contact below.
"A job with this URL is already on the list"The job was saved before. Ask the assistant to find it and update it instead.
"Too many changes – try again later", or a message about a limit of the accountTryCatchJob limits how fast jobs can be added and how much an account holds. Wait a minute, or delete old jobs in the app.
Claude Code does not list trycatchjob under /mcpThe server was added for one folder only. Add it again with --scope user as shown above and start a new session.
TryCatchJob says that too many assistants are connectedDisconnect one you no longer use under Account → AI assistant.
